This past weekend was the second stop at the Autobahn country club for the NASA Midwest region. The weather was hot and the racing was close, all in all a good weekend with one 6th place finish and a 3rd on Sunday.
This was the first weekend of racing for the TeamWIN racing EVO since the loss of 4th gear at BIR back in May. Along with the trans being repaired a few other substantial mods were done, which meant there was a few trial and error moments. The addition of the STOPTECH big brake kit was by far the biggest and most needed mod of the weekend. With temps nearing 100 degrees the factory brakes would not have stood a chance. With the new wheels and tires we had our fair share of rubbing, but nothing that ever ended in any bad situations.
As far as the racing goes, on Saturday bad qualifying strategy left me in the 6 spot in class and 8 overall for grid. By turn 6 of lap one I was in 3rd place when I lost all power. The line to the recirc valve had come off ending any chances of a decent finish and finish In general. A DNF by my standards but NASA kindly positioned me in 6th place overall. Sunday was a better day, some trackside fab resulted in far cooler coolant temps as I fabbed a front hood lip to induce more air flow through the hood vent. The only negatives were a few more lines had come off, this time resulting in excessive boost. I managed to qualify 5th and finish 3rd with some great battles along the way.
A big thanks goes out to all of my sponsors, especially to Goodyear and Girodisc! With out these companies I would not have been able to race this weekend. Below are a few pics that I have with me. More to come, especially some good racing action ones.
